Happy 2008! I trust that you've all had a great holiday season, an fire-cracking New Year and a spectacularly lazabout Aussie Day break! And now we here at the Animania Factory are hoping you're looking forward to a BRILLIANT new year of Animania Festivals!! We definitely have a lot in store for you :D :D :D.
To kick-start this brand new year of Animania, I'd like to welcome you all to our shiney new website. It's been long-delayed and I'd like to take this chance to apologise to all our visitors on taking so long to put this site up and getting all the info up!! We've definitely been having an interesting time over here at the Factory with the site (ah, technology! T_T) but we wanted to make sure that we had as much info completed before we put up the site. But, we hope it's been well worth the wait!! Thanks for all your patience guys!!
This year will be a MEGA year for Animania Festival as we bring to you not just one Cosplay event, BUT TWO!! And for an event that purely celebrates Japanese pop culture can we really say there's anything like too much Cosplay?! Of course not!!
Along with our much-loved, traditional Animania Festival Cosplay Competition, we are also proud to host the Australian Preliminary Competition for the World Cosplay Summit (WCS)!! In this Australian-first, we will be searching for the team that produces the BEST costume and performance. This team will be sent to competed in the 2009 World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan and will be the first Australian representitives in this international competition.
The WCS Preliminary will be a HUGE event for Cosplay in Australia and we definitely think that Aussies are up to the task of competing with Cosplayers from all over the globe! If you think you've got some awesome costume ideas, skills and a killer perfomance up your sleeve, then we want you to 'bring it on' and show us what you've got Australia!!

Of course, there'll be more than just Cosplay at Animania Festival to look forward to as well! There'll our staple features including all-day screenings, karaoke, video games, lots of comps and of course the crazy Main Stage Game Show, Olympia! The yukata workshops will be back again too, but that's not all! We promise you there'll be some great new features to expect, especially for the Animania Festival Weekend - which, I should mention, will be held in a new location this year at Australian Technology Park!!
But, I'm getting ahead of myself! Our tour of day events along the East Coast starts off with the Animania Festival Sydney March at the Citigate Central Hotel. For all the info about venue, location and features to expect, click here or simply browse through the links in the left hand menu under the "Sydney" title. Pre-registration will also be available VERY SOON!
We'll be putting up more info on the site over the upcoming weeks and opening up the other areas of the site for our Brissy and Melbourne events too, so please make sure to keep checking the site for latest goss and updates!
... Oh man, I'm so jumpin' and excited about this year of Animania!! (Maybe I'm always saying that -- but really and truly I am!! XD)
