Follow Animania

The Animania Festival would not be what it is today without the assistance and enthusiasm of its many volunteers and sponsoring associates. Every year, we seek out a variety of individuals who express their interests in volunteering for Animania’s flagship event – the Sydney Weekend Event.

Thank you to our previous volunteers for all your wonderful support and hard work over the years!

If you haven’t volunteered with Animania before or don’t have any work experience, don’t worry! All volunteers attend two training workshops where you are trained specifically for the event and shown how the Festival runs as a whole. The training dates are on the 31st July 2010 & 28th August 2010. These training sessions will not only get you ready and pumped for the Festival, but show you that becoming an Animania Volunteer is a fantastic experience all on its own separate to just attending the Festival.

For more information on which section you would like to volunteer in, visit our Information on Volunteer Sections page.

Volunteer FAQ

What is Animania?

Animania Festival, Australia's largest anime and manga event, is a celebration and exploration of the spectacular world of Japanese pop culture! The Festival presents the best Japanese popular culture has to offer under one roof including workshops, video games, stalls, competitions, all-day anime screenings, and lots more!

What is an Animania Volunteer?

Animania Volunteers are recruited and trained individuals who do a wide range of tasks during the Animania Weekend Event.

Will I be paid during the event?

As a volunteer, no monetary compensation is offered to volunteers and staff for their contributions to the Festival.

What are the requirements/restrictions to become an Animania Volunteer?

Below explains the requirements to become an Animania Volunteer:

  • Must be the age of 18 years or older
  • Must be able to participate in both the Saturday AND Sunday of the Festival
  • Must attend ALL compulsory training sessions
  • Must complete the online Animania Volunteer Program Registration Form
  • Must abide by the Animania Code of Conduct for Volunteers and General Public

Animania Festival’s HR/Organisating Staff reserve the right to dismiss you from the program if failure to abide by these requirements.

What do I get from being an Animania Volunteer?

Hard efforts should always be rewarded. In Animania, hard efforts don’t go unrecognized and are always rewarded. As an Animania Volunteer, you get:

  • Free entry to the Animania Event during the whole weekend
  • Meals, snacks and drinks throughout the weekend
  • A load of laughs and fun; new friends and communities to be part of
  • Experience, knowledge, personal growth
  • Certificate of Participation. Written recognition at the end of the program

I’ve never volunteered before or have any work experience?

You don’t have to worry about that at all. In fact, most of our previous volunteers are 1st timers themselves and have little or no work experience. Volunteering is great to gather skills, knowledge and hands-on experience to show for in your resume as well as future employment.

Animania’s philosophy is with the right attitude and confidence comes with the right skills and knowledge.
