There can be no denying that video games are an integral part of Japanese popular culture. This year's Games Zone at Animania Festival Weekend will be a place chill out, take a look at the latest and most popular Japanese video games, from the classics of Mario Kart to newer titles and give them a spin.

Whether you decide to test out your swinging arm with the Wii or put your button mashing skills to the test, there is bound to be something for everyone.

Games Competitions

What would the Games Zone be without competitions that challenge the best of the best? Last year's competitions on the Wii brought in over 100 entrants and a massive crowd.  Check out what Games Competitions will be held.

 

GAMER BATTLE ROYALE Do you think you are the best gamer around? Well now’s your chance to prove it with this Gamer Battle Royale. You will be tested against a variety of genres and consoles. But let’s make things more interesting.  The games will be kept top secret  and will only be revealed to competitor’s moments before battle. Important: This comp will run over Saturday and Sunday, competitors must attend both days of the event.

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3 COMPETITION Are you ready to get your fight on? Then you’d better not miss this brand new comp in the Game Zone! So whether you’re button mashing master or spent the last year memorizing every combo, build your team and get ready for this awesome tag team fighter.

POKEMON ELITE FOUR Do you aspire to be a Pokemon Master? Well now’s your chance to prove what you’re made of!! Our Elite Team of Poke-Professionals have been training hard and are ready to face any challenge. So get training and make sure your DS is charged for this.

SUPER SMASH BRO BRAWL CHAMPIONSHIP The ever popular Super Smash Bros Brawl Royal Rumble competition is back again this year in the Games Zone but there have been a few changes. Be sure to check the Festival Schedule to ensure you're there when the call for arms goes out for competitors. Put your skills, whether they be of the highest strategic calibre, or of the fastest button mashing ability, to the test in this brutal elimination based battle.

ULTIMATE MARIO KART CHALLENGE Think you are the master of Mario Kart? Are you an old school pro or a wiz on the Wii? Well here is your chance to prove it. Yes it’s back, The Ultimate Mario Kart Challenge. 4 generations of Mario Kart will put you to the test. But you will not be alone on your road to victory! This competition will require teams of 4. So ask your friends, or maybe your enemies, and form your team to compete in the Ultimate Mario Kart Challenge!
